In September, 2007, E.ON Földgáz announced a thematic competition for young fine and applied artists to submit works eternizing formation, exploitation, transport and utilization of natural gas. By announcing this competition, E.ON Földgáz, as a dominant participant in domestic natural gas trade and storage activities, follows the traditions of its parent company, E.ON Ruhrgas, regarding support of the culture.
By announcing the competition titled “Clean Energy”, E.ON Földgáz wanted to take young talented persons under its wing first of all. Besides, E.ON Földgáz intended to decorate the walls of the offices of the company with the works of the young artists because the company pays attention to demanding working environment where its employees work.
E.ON Földgáz provided assistance to prepare the competition artworks by opening the gates of its largest storage site for the young artists to draw inspiration at the bottom of large pipes and beside noisy compressors for their works.
Until the submission deadline on Friday, November 23, 247 works of 164 artists were submitted to the head office of E.ON Földgáz at Roosevelt Square.
The First Prize was not awarded by the professional panel, while the Second Prize, together with 700 thousand HUF, was awarded to Ferenc Hack, who is a sculpture student at the University of Pécs, for his iron statue titled Balance. The Third Prize, and the accompanying 500 thousand HUF, was awarded to two painting students for their oil paintings, i.e. Twist It by Ágnes Podmaniczky and Hommage á Yves Klein by Zsuzsanna Bene. Both of them are students of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. Besides, E.ON Földgáz has purchased 15 competition artworks by which the offices of the company have been decorated.
