Arts

E.ON Ruhrgas – the parent company of E.ON Földgáz – started encouraging arts by sponsoring the minor exhibitions of Russian artists in the 1980’s, while later they assumed a significant role in organizing Van-Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Turner, Cézanne and Caspar Friedrich exhibitions. In 2003, the large German energetic company contributed 3.5 million dollars to restoring the Amber Room in the Catherine Palace at Tsarskoye Selo in St. Petersburg. The Ruhrgas Architectural Award of €25 000 was established in 1971, and now being under the auspices of the German Chamber of Architects, it has become well-known as the German Architectural Award.

As soon as the ownership of the company changed, the management of the E.ON Földgáz decided that their activities should not be restricted to achieving the objectives within the company profile only. Following the traditions of the parent company – E.ON Ruhrgas –, the key energy supplier of Hungary considers it important to support sports, culture, education and arts.
