Natural gas consumption in Hungary

In 2005 the total energy consumption of the country increased by 4% compared to the previous year. The domestic natural gas consumption in 2005 (14.9 billion cubic meters) slightly exceeded (by 3%) the level of 14.5 billion cubic meters consumed in 2004. The share of the natural gas in primary energy consumption decreased to a small extent from 45.0 % in the previous year to 44.7 %.

In 2005 the consumption of the population increased to a small measure (from 4.6 billion cubic meters to 4.7 billion cubic meters).

The share of the natural gas consumption in electric energy production was 34.5% in 2005. This figure is by and large identical with that of the previous year (35.1%).
